On Choosing Wisely (Poem 231)

I sat down next
to my cat and
asked where
I'd gone
wrong.
She winked,
and said I'd
been singing
to a distant flock
of  birds who hadn't
heard a single song
in years.
So I dried my tears
and got cozy
in bed. Then I
sang to my
cat instead.
